Mary L. Finegan Services for Mary L. Finegan (nee Whiteside), 89, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Born June 25, 1916, in Chicago, to John G. and Anne G. Whiteside, she passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, in Waterbury Center, Vt. Mary grew up on Chicago's North Side. She and her husband, Henry, raised their children in the Edgewater area of the North Side, as well. In her later years, she was actively involved in serving the elderly and sick, working with the Evanston area Hospice and as a Communion minister for her church. She was devoted to Jesus Christ, putting into practice his teaching, "Whatever you do unto the least of these, that you do unto me." She moved to Vermont in 1997 to live with her daughter, Sue, and family. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Henry E. Finegan; mother of Don (Elizabeth) Finegan, Carol Bedrosian, Sue (Jim) Markley and Robert (Anne) Finegan; loving sister of the late Catherine Marre, the late Helen Anderson and John G. Whiteside; and loving grandmother of Becky Schmalz, Christina Finegan, Colleen, James and Bryan Bedrosian, Christopher and Patrick Markley, and Michael, Sarah, Teresa, Veronica, Lauren, Nora and Julia Finegan.
