I'm new to this and recently visited Cloonfad to do a bit of research myself. I believe Thomas might be the sibling of my grandfather Micheal Finegan who emigrated to England. As you correctly point out there are no Finegan's left in Cloonfad, although I was successful in pinpointing the former Finegan land at Cloonfad East(on the road to Dunmore) which at one time also belonged to the Diffely/Diffily family.
John Finegan (mochy or "son of") was the last person to live in Cloonfad and work on the land. His father John Finegan was married twice (maybe this is the same person you're looking for?) Married first to Bridget Diffely and then to Anne Patten
We know that one of the siblings from the Finegan/Patten marriage, Denis Finegan, emigrated to the States and he appears on the Ellis Ireland records arriving in 1903 and settling in Missorui. I am continuing my research and hope to learn more soon.
