I wrote my PhD dissertation on a Moravian composer called Gottfried Finger (c.1655-1730). His parents were Georg and Marina. He had at least one brother, Thomas, who died in 1715; and one sister, Barbara.

Gottfried was born in the Moravian town of Olomouc. His birth was during a turbulant time for the region (just after the Thirty Years War). His family were probably well-off 'German' settlers who were invited to the region by regional aristocracy. I have reason to believe that this Finger family of Olomouc came to the area from Silesia (to the North).

Finger had a wife called Kathernia Elizabeth, but I am not sure if he married her in England (where he worked for aout 15 years) or on the Continent.

Has anyone heard of any of these Fingers?

Best,

Robert
