J.A. FINGER of Ashland Co., OH, d. 1831

Who was J.A. FINGER who d. in Jan. 1831 (Ashland Co., Ohio Cemeteries, p. 140)? Buried in the same cemetery were: Catherin Finger who d. Feb. 1873, aged 88 years; JN FINGER's wife Elizabeth who d. Dec. 1878, age 80; and the HEIFFNER parents of Martha MACKRILL (nee HEIFFNER). How were these persons related? In the 1830 census of Richland Co., Orange Twp., John A. FINGER was head of household. In the 1850 census of the same twp. (by then in Ashland Co.), Joel MACKERELL (laborer, age 22, born OH) was enumerated in the household of John FINGER (residence #76). Who was the latter John FINGER? Joel was born 7 Sept. 1824, son of John MACKRILL and Magdalena (or Madalena, Martha or Mattie) nee HEIFFNER. In 1850 in the same twp., Martha MACKEREL was listed as head of household (residence #61) with several of her children. Later, Joel and his mother settled in Marshall Co., Iowa.
