Lisa,

Christoph Finger in your post may be Christoph Finger born in 1824 in Willersdorf, Frankenberg, Hessen, Germany. He came to America in 1844 and worked as a varnisher in Boston. His younger brother Henrich came to New York City in 1857 and worked as a varnisher there, and in Boston with his brother Christoph. Then Henrich went back to NYC.

It's not unreasonable to think Christoph may have ended up in NYC too. I'm attempting to get his wife's name and all their children's names. I'll let you know if there is a match.

If there is, you've hit the jackpot. Christoph Finger is descended from Samuel Finger, born before 1568 in Muenden, died about 1640 in Bottendorf - all ancestors in between are known. Look at www.fingerfamily.com and click on Family Lines. Look for Conrad Finger from Baltimore and click on Samuel Finger, Oldest Finger Ancestor in Bottendorf.

Talk to you later,

John
