Texas Finlays -- Information and names.

In response to another posting, I put up the following, which may be of more general interest:

Two Finlay brothers (ancestors of mine) moved to Texas circa 1873. I was always told that "the Finlays spelled l-a-y are relatives because the others spelled the
name l-e-y." However, I am finding that not to be the case. My father's cousin put together a 189-page book on our Finlays, complete with photos, etc. In that book
he lists a Robert Kay Finlay (1845-1938) who was part of the migration to Texas. RKF's children were James, (1879-1966), Alexander (1880-1954), Isabella
(1882-1968), Robert Kay F., Jr. (1883 - ?), William (1885-1978), Donald (1887-1963), Agnes (1888-1978), Mary (1891-1983), and Margaret (1895-1926).
The book also lists descendents of these.

Robert K. Finlay's (1845-1938)siblings were:
James(1838-1919), Agnes (1841-1923), Mary Farmer F. (1843-1926), William (1847-1937), John Kay F. (1849-1938), and Alexander (1853-1932).

Robert K. Finlay's father was James Finlay (1816-1892). The rest of the chart goes like this:

(1) William Finlay (1712-1792)
(2) William Finlay (1741-1823)
(3) William F (1764-1771)
(3) George (1766-1769)
(3) James (1768-1769)
(3) Christian (1770-1826)
(3) Robert (1772-1852)
(3) Jean (1774-1786)
(3) Janet (1776-1779)
(3) Margaret (1779-1858)
(3) William (1782-1784)
(3) James (1784-1862) THIS IS THE FATHER OF JAMES (1816-1892) Listed above.
(3) David Finlay (1786-1787)

The book shows Finlays from this family in Texas in: Austin, Waldrip, Fife, Brady, San Angelo, San Marcos, Texas City, Fort Worth, Coleman, Dallas, Port
Aurthur, Lubbock, Mason, Gainesville, Denton, Menard, Lohn, Eldorado, Dime Box, Junction, Schleicher County, Santa Ana, San Saba, McCamey, Teaque,
