My James Finlay was a brother of my grandfather and came through Ellis island to New York and then to Pittsburgh in 1906, 1912 and 1915 (approximate date) In 1912 and 1915 he was listed as returning to his home in Pittsburgh. In 1906 He was listed as going to visit his brother David. In 1912 he returned with his sister Agnes and they went to his sister's house in Crafton, PA, Mrs. Robert Wilson (Annie Finlay. In 1915 he returned with his brother Robert H Finlay who was 15 at the time.
The Siblings that I have accounted for in my Finlay side of the family are as follows:
Adam Finlay (1885-1887 Died 1948)
James Finlay (approx 1881)
David Finlay (approx 1886-1888)
Eleanor Finlay- Unknown date of birth
Agnes Finlay- Unknown date of Birth- she married a man named Harry Edgar
Annie Finlay- Unkown DOB She married Robert Wilson
Robert Finlay- Born around 1900
William- unknown date of birth- In 1948 He was living in Belfast.
James Finlay listed his home as Killinchy in one ship manifest and Balloo, County Down in another. The other Finlay's that came through Ellis Island listed either just county Down or Killinchy or a town that was hard to read but looked like Carrickveagh? Do any of these names sound familiar. Rumor had it that there were Finlays who did work in the shipyards in Belfast.
Hope this helps!
