Bernard Hunt:
I noticed on a map of Cuba when I was there last year that there is a museum in Havana named after Carlos Finlay. I checked the family search site (Church of Latter Day Saints) and found he was born in Cuba 3 Dec, 1833. His full name was Carlos Juan F.,he was born at Camaguay and his father was Edward F. and mother Isabel de Barres.
The museum is called the Carlos J. Finlay Mason de la Flota, and more information could be available from that source. The name "Finlay" is probably Irish, Although there are birth records on familysearch for 9 Edward Finleys, or Findlay/Finlay between 1890 and 1790 and 1810. Hope this helps. Dave F.
