HI Dave,
David Finlay's children in order were: Mary (possibly after his sister in law), although David Finlay's son named a daughter Mary Mabel, and the next generation (my grandfather) named a daughter Mary, Nancy, Susan (after his wife), Wallace (after his in laws), Margaret, David, and Robert. Wallace and Robert both named sons Frank. Be interesed in the results of your letters, the phone book at indicated that there are still 35 Finlays in Cavan County.
I saw a map in an article on Cavan, that had a Finlay estate in the mid-nineteenth century in the west of Cavan that little arm that projects west. There was also a Wallace estate in about the centre of the County.
I'll let you know if I discover anything new.
