Bernard,
Carlos finlay was born in Cuba to a Scotish father, Edward and a French mother, Marie de Barre.
He was educated in Germany and France. He left Cuba to attend medical school in Philadelphia. He travelled to the U.S. several times(NYC,Wash) during his lifetime. My great-grandmother was his sister and came to the U.S. permanently as a widow with sons about 1888. She stayed with relatives in S. Orange NJ.- Henry p. Finlay. I don't know how he was related to Carlos and Marie-Louise. The Finlay family of NJ is buried in Holy Sepulcher cemetery. I was in touch with a decendent of that branch of the family-now in Georgia- and received some info from her.
Are you related to these Finlays ?
Susan
