Dear Susan,

My grandmother's maiden name was Amelia van der Water y Finlay, b.1909 in Habana, Cuba. Her mother's name was Concepcion Finlay, whom we estimate was born around 1889.

Based on the info provided in these postings, we believe Dr. Finlay may have had a brother from which my branch of the family is descended. Have you any indication as to whether Dr. Finlay may have had a brother that remained in Cuba? As far as we know, these were the only Finlays in Cuba.

Sincerely,

Alex Taupier-van der Water
Miami, FL
