I think I misled you on John Sidney Sauvalle one of Maria Louise Finlay's sons. He was born in Cuba in 1862 and died in NYC after living in NJ and NYC from at least 1888 on.
Marie louise and her sons lived with Henry NJ after coming to the US permanently about 1888. They then moved to NYC

I am having touble finding info on
Marie Louise' husband,my great-grandfather John Sauvalle
His middle name was either Sidney or Maria? I think he was born in Charlestown SC and went to Cuba as a boy
He also attended Georgetown in 1825-1827 (at 11/12 yrs)so I assume he was born in 1813. That is the most info I have. He did not come to the US with his family in 1888. Could he have died in Cuba? Also there is an age disparity. If he was born in 1813 and Maria Louise was born in 1842.

The person I am most interested in finding info on is my grandfather, Henry Alfred Sauvalle. He was born in Cuba in 1868 and came to the NJ with his family in 1888. I can trace him til 1917 in NYC after marrying aand having 2 children but then he disappears. I can't find a death certificate.I am wondering if he returned to Cuba and died there. The story I heard was that he died when my father was young.

Any help you can give me would be great.
