J.J. Finlay (FL) m. Margaret Martin (NC)

Looking for descendents of J.J. Finlay and Margaret Martin.

Margaret was the duaghter of John Bethune Martin (b. abt. 1791 Moore Co, NC; d. aft 1848 Monroe, LA) and Nancy Hill Harris of Montgomery County, NC.

J.J. Finlay, according to a book by Daniel Allan McDonald, was a "hero of three wars: The Mexican; The Seminole and The Civil War. He was a Judge and a Congressman who is probably remembered more for another reason than his military exploits. He introduced a bill into congress to reduce letter postage from three to two cents! His wife Margaret was still living around 1908."

I am researching the Martin Family. Any information on the offspring of J.J. Finlay and Margaret Martin would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! Fredreica speyer@bellsouth.net
