Hi

William Finlay was most likely from Ireland, his son Evengeliste also listed his 'race of people' as Irish.

He married Marie Legace twice, in 1825 in a Catholic Church and then again in 1826 in a Protestant Church.

That suggests he was Protestant Irish meaning he was 'most likely' from Ulster, Ireland (now known as Northern Ireland).
