Fischbach's in Maryland
Seeking information on George Fischbach 1833-1896.Family lore has it that George arrived in MD from Germany. He worked and lived near the Baltimore inner harbor as a teamster hauling cargo from the ships. His first wife was Elisabeth and they had a daughter.
Elisabeth died and George remarried to Paulena (some family members say her surname was Dorr; however, I have documentation that it was Schnadelbach) who came over from Germany as a young child.Paulena's first husband Mr. Erhardt died.
George served in the Civil War in the 4th MD Infantry, Company B and was wounded. After his death, Paulena received his pension.George and Paulena are buried at Western Cemetery in Baltimore City, MD.
Their children were:twins, Johannes and Elisabeth G. b. 11/16/1882, Heinrich b. 9/5/1885, Emma b. 8/5/1887, and Louis Edward 1/21/1890-3/11/1958.I have the baptism records for the first 4 children...Salems Church, Baltimore, MD.
Louis Edward was my grandfather. He could understand German as that is what his parents spoke, but he did not speak it very well.
