Grace Fishleigh in Devon

I would like to find out more about Grace Fishleigh who married Thomas Allin in Sutcombe, Devon in 1757. She had two "base born" sons, John bap. in 1754 and my my gggg grandfather, Robert, bap February 1 1757 and she married Thomas on July 4 of the same year. From his will and those of his natural sons, Thomas appears to have adopted John and Robert and they certainly took the name Allin.

In subsequent generations there were intermarriages between Allins and Fishleighs but that does not help in my quest.

IGI gives a Grace Fishleigh bap Aug 5, 1733 in Thornbury, Devon whose mother is Hannah Fishleigh, presumably illegitimate. It also lists a Hannah bap Jan 13 1717 to Robert Fishleigh and Hannah and one (the same?) who died Jan 24 1717. As IGI records are incomplete there could, of course, have been other Grace Foshleighs about that time.

Anyone researched the Fishleigh records in Devon?

Barry Lambert
