I am a newcomer and I was born a Fishwick in Preston in 1954. My brother is the last in our Fishwick line as he is an only son and has no sons of his own. My grandfather was Frederick Fishwick born 1890 (I am waiting for his birth certificate to arrive any day now), son of Jack (1870 to 1953) and Alice (1867 to 1957) Barton-Fishwick. All dates are from my 78 year old mothers memory, so are yet to be proved. Jack Barton-Fishwick played for Preston North End in the 1890's and was a painter and decorator by trade but later ran the Commercial Hotel in Preston Town Centre. I know my grandfather had a sister Alice and I wondered if this same Alice was your Mother. The children of Jack and Alice Barton-Fishwick that my mum remembers include Frederick (my grandfather)Alfred, Janie, Annie, Evelyn, Thomas, Ada, Jack and Alice. I to live within 7 miles of Preston. It would be nice here if we are distant relatives.
