I posted this response to a message which appeared to have been on here for years, and to date have not had a response, so I thought I'd put it into open forum and see if it raised any interest.
The message was to a Phil Ross who was asking about any connections between Fishwicks & Galgate (Nr Lancaster). My response was as follows:
I don't know if this email is still active but here goes. My family originates from both Heysham & Galgate (I even lived there for a short while).
My Grandfather was Harry (Henry) Fishwick of 18 Chapel street, Galgate (Newsagent - operating from home). He had a relationship in 1916 to 1919/20 with a Canadian girl called Royce Green who gave birth in December 1918 to my Dad -Robert Myles Fishwick (died 1967). Royce was evidently not liked by the family who basically ostracised her to such an extent that she fled back to Canada (Vancouver I believe)in about 1920 leaving my Dad with his Father. My Grandfather married Ellen ??????? and she became my Dad's step-mother and was the only paternal
Grandmother that I knew. My Dad married Audrey Patricia Hodgson in Sept 1939 and went away to war. I was born in August 1944 and was the only child.
Does any of this help?
