Where was I looking? They had FOUR children in the 1881 census, not three. William also had a thirteen year old daughter from his first marriage.

I also forgot to mention that I currently have on order from my local bookseller, a copy "The History of Brandon Colliery", which was recommended to me by someone on a coal-mining email forum. It's apparently 300+ pages with lots abut the people of the area. I'll let you know what its' like when it arrives.
