Further to my emails to you both
Many thanks for the congratulations, I'm sure we'll connect somewhere, sometime.
Fee & David
Just thought that I would list a little more on the FISHWICKs in case anyone else might have an interest in them.
John Fishwick b abt 1793 Kirby Lonsdale
m Agnes Pennington in Beetham 1815
The children of John & AGNES ARE:-
Thomas b1817 Farleton or Beetham or Bentham
William b1819 Kendal
Margaret b1823 Raventend?
Lydia b1825 W'land
Rowland b1826 Kirby Stephen
Richard b1830 Sedbergh
Agnes b1832 Brough under Stainmore
Rowley b1833 Brough under Stainmore
I have marriage details & certificates of all the above apart from Lydia [which I am working on] & Rowley who I have no info on at all. He wasn't on the 1841 census so perhaps he died.
If Lydia married who I suspect she married then she was born in Barbon.
All the above places are Westmorland.
All were living in Keighley in the 1841 census.
All were coal miners.
John was described as a husbandsman in the marriage register in Beetham Parish Church.
The Fishwicks seem to have been a very mobile family. I have found them to be in -
Westmorland 1793 - 1833
Keighley 1839 - 1840
Bingley 1842 - 1847
Keighley 1847 - 1858
Durham 1855- 1870ish
Bradford 1870ish onwards for my line
I am descended from John's son William who married Susannah Craven in 1839 in Keighley.
With regards to your Thomas I found info on different census listing him as being born in
Bentham 1851 Census but I thought Bentham was in Yorkshire & it said Westmorland on the census.
Farleton on the 1881 census. They are definitely the same person.
In 1851 Thomas was living with his wife Elizabeth [Betty] at 60 Dalton Lane, Keighley
his children are listed as:-
Agnas 11 b Keighley
John 8 b Bingley
William 6 b Bingley
Margaret 5 b Bingley
Elizabeth 1 b Keighley
I also have a death certificate for another daughter Martha b 1854 & died of Atrophy 9 December 1854 aged 6 months at Physic Row, Keighley. I am almost sure that this address was John's home as her mother gave her address as Dalton Lane in the space for informant.
I saw this death in the GRO index & knowing that our Fishwicks were the only ones in Keighley at this time I was intrigued to know whose daughter she was.
I have waffled long enough.
Hope this info is of some use to you.
I will send you other info on the families of the above people, probably by snail mail as there is a lot of it.
