I wouldn't hang your hat on anything you read in that book. I have the same book and much of Pierce's earliest generations has since been disproved. There is actually a significant bit of data that shows that there was never any Fiske who was the Lord of Stadhaugh Manor.
Try to get a copy of Jack Owen Jevons "Descendants of Richard Fiske of Laxfield" pub 1987, very compelling research.
