If you look at the 1880 census it shows that Horace (age 50) is living with his wife Mary E. (unknown) (age 36) and his parents David (age 83) and Milly (age 82) in Oxford, Chenango Co., New York.
This obviously proves that he did not die in 1872 as one of your sources suggests.
It is obviously the right Horace as well as his parents are spot on with their names and ages.
As for his wife being Mary E. and not Martha it supports the data I have which says that his (1st) wife Martha is the one who died in 1872, not him.
