That's a great story if you can verify it.
I did a quick check on Ancestry.com but came up without a single Dorno Fisk(e), in any census and nothing in the WWI Draft cards either.

When was your grandfather, Robert Fiske, born? Maybe we can get a connection that way.

I did find a Robert Fisk in Connecticut, who was the son of a Byron Fisk... and Byron was an Engineer for the Railroad.

I can't prove anything without more info though.
