Bob, Jackie and I have both been working this issue with James' birth certificate. I have a copy of the death certificate and it does list Charles and Mary Wood as his parents. This information was provided by James's youngest son Frank E. Fiske. According to census documents, Jonathan Fiske had a son named James and another son named Charles. I am wondering if Frank confused his uncle with his grandfather?

I have been in contact with Shrewsbury, both the town clerk and the 1st Congregational Church and they have nothing on James as far as a birth certificate. There are only 3 Fiskes listed in one of the 3 cemetaries in Shrewsbury.

I have also emailed the town librarian in Milford, MA to see if they can help out, I have not heard back from them, as of yet.

What else can you suggest? I have James' discharge certificates, request for pension from the Civil War and those don't provide any more information.

Thanks in advance,

Paul
