Fisken Family Genealogy Forum

Hi everyone. This is my first visit to this forum. My Great Grandfather, Peter Fisken, born in Cabbage Bazaar, Glasgow, Scotland in 1839, emigrated to New Zealand in the early 1860s. While in Auckland he married Grace Bryson, also from Scotland , on the first of March 1866. Shortly thereafter they travelled to Gore in the South Island where they settled , eventually buying a block of farm land which is still owned & farmed by Charles Fisken, a third generation descendant. Information to date 20th. December 1999 has been gathered from family members still living, from Peter Fisken of High Craighton Farm Cottage, Milngarvie, Glasgow, G627HA, and from the research done by Donald Clyde Fisken & his wife Margaret, presented under the title of "the Fisken Heritage" dated 1986. Many thanks are due to them for the information on our Australian connections. There is so much more we need to research & record, both to do with the past & the present (the family is still expanding ) and all contributions will be gratefully accepted. We are all growing older (Iam 70) and sadly, once we depart this life, our memories, unless recorded, are gone forever. Please help if you can.
I have a web page at http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/f/i/s/Stanley-M-Fisken/index.html most of the family lineage that I have is available there. You can download the GEDCOM file contained. Both New Zealand & Australian families are listed as fully as I know them. While many of our Scottish forebears are also shown , there are many links still to be found. Maybe we can all help each other. God Bless, Stan.
