Hello descendants of Robert. My uncle has a portrait of Robert, which I have copied digitally. If anyone wants a copy, leave a message.
I have also been looking at Robert`s ancestors. I`m not sure of all of them yet, but here`s something to work on:
Robert b. 9/1/1690, Bradfield Combust, married Dorothy Bawley, b. 26/1/1695, Norton, at Norton, 15/12/1720. He died 29/7/1748, she 18/10/1750, both at Langham. He was son of
Robert, b. 2/8/1660, Lawshall. He m. Elizabeth. He d. 28/3/1696, at Lawshall. He was son of
William, b. 4/7/1624, Horringer. He m. Anne. He d. 19/5/1685, Lawshall. He was son of
John, b. 14/3/1590, Horringer. He m. Agnes Dearson at Horringer, 29/9/1619. He d. 21/12/1658, she 8/12/1666, both Horringer. He was son of
William, who m. Barbara Sewell, 16/6/1588, at Horringer. He d. 9/6/1629, she 21/5/1614, both Horringer. He was son of
John, m. Agnes, he d. 12/4/1587, she 8/5/1615, both Horringer.
I have wills for Dorothy and all men except Wm. d. 1685 (admon.). I could probably scan originals or transcripts.
The first mention of the name I have found in England is in a Manor Roll of 1317 for Pakenham.
The name also occurs in France and Lorraine. The first mention there is 1289. There doesn`t appear to be any connection with the UK Fisons, and Brazil`s favourite heavy metal band (their words) is... Fison.
All the English villages are within ten miles or so of Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.
Charlie Fison.
