The August 2006 issue of ANTIQUES magazine on p. 27 has an advertisement that pictures a superb fraktur birth letter, dated 1822, for Jane Fitz who was born 21 December 1782 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Jane was the daughter of Balthaser Fitz and Elizabetha (Baum) Fitz.
It's interesting to speculate on the purpose of this "birth letter," which may have been given to Jane on her 40th birthday.
I am scanning this page in case any of Jane's descendants might like a copy, either by email or by postal mail. Someone in the Fitz family ought to have it--it is too good to be missed by the family. It may not have extensive genealogy value, but it certainly has a lot of family value.
My email address can be found by clicking on my underlined name above. Please respond by emailing me directly and not by posting a reply on this genforum site, which I might not see.
If it were a frakur birth letter of a Mr. Pease, I'd certainly want someone to do the same for me.
Bill Pease, Lancaster, PA
