Thanks very much--that's more information than I'd found. I'll have to go looking for "Descendants of Edward Fitz Randolph".
You're correct that there were also Ella and Edwin (I thought I put down the entire list, but may have slipped a cog). There was also Robert, whose birthdate I do not have, only that he was born, and died, in 1880.
I'm going to have to go and harass a couple family members who've been too busy to help me out; I was led to believe that my father's cousin had managed to make the connection -- but that was some 30+ years ago, when it was all... very cool, but I was a kid and didn't ahve the presence of mind to write anything down.
If I can find this all out, I'll make sure it gets into the "mainstream" Fitzrandolph genealogies so that it's not a mystery for people in the future.
Thanks again--I didn't have the names Samuel, John and Jacob before. That means that the real mystery lies sometime back in the mid 1700s, then....
It may also be that Margaret's name was Gurnsey rather than Garnsey (the spelling is pretty clearly an "a" in the notes I've got, in whose hand I don't know), and I may be able to find out something more about her under that spelling. Something to do until I can afford to fly from California to Florida to catch up with my father's cousin.
