I ran into the same problem. Some people just use Randolph and others use other varieties. I found it easiest to treat "Fitz" as another name and "Randolph as the last name. This means that all of them get filed together no matter how it is used. My ancestor then is Harriet Fitz Randolph. When I get to her file then she is with all of the other Randolphs. We have another cousin Senator Jennings Randolph and his son sportscaster Jay Randolph who do not use the Fitz at all, but they will all turn up in the same file according to their given name.
