Nelson (Fitz) Randolph, Fayette Co., Pa.

I have recently uncovered some information about a Nelson Randolph who bought General Land Office lots in York Bluffs, Alabama (later called Sheffield) on November 7, 1835 with my ggg grandfather John Randolph. Nelson witnessed other documents involving John Randolph. John Randolph died in Florence, Alabama in 1838.

I have done extensive research to try to find a Nelson Randolph. Recently, I found a document of another purchase by a "Nelson Randolph of Fayette Co., Pa.", of 120 acres from the General Land Office in Monroe, Michigan on August 5, 1837.

Both of these purchases can be found by searching the Bureau of Land Management records. Fayette County, Pennsylvania had resources of coal and iron ore. York Bluffs, Alabama did as well.

With further study, I found that Nelson's ancestors were born in New Jersey. They had been FITZ Randolphs.

I believe there was a family relationship between John and Nelson Randolph. And, that would suggest that our line is from the Fitzrandolphs. Has anyone else heard about the Nelson Randolphs (there were descendants by that name there)? I would like to share information.
