There are two great books on Apalachicola. One book is about the history and the other is a pictorial book. They are "Outpost on the Gulf" (historical) and "At the Water's Edge" (pictorial). I have both of these books. They can be purchased at the Apalachicola Times web site. I took the liberty of looking up John Ruan for you in both books, I found him listed in the index of "Outpost on the Gulf." I have that info scanned if you would like to read those two pages.
