I recently received an email that mentioned that some researchers are beginning to do DNA studies of the AYERS/AYRES surnames in Calhoun County, Florida. This work might also extend to the AYRS surname. I would be very interested in any such work. I am currently beginning DNA research into my wife’s AYERS heritage. I’m especially interested in any information about a young woman Martha AYERS, b. ca 1830, possibly in Florida.; d. ca 1855-1858 probably in Hillsborough County, Florida. In 1850 she was living in the Ichepuckessaa Settlement in Hillsborough County, Florida with her second husband, Christopher Zebendon. Martha may possibly be Native American and AYERS may be her maiden name or her married name. Any information would be much appreciated.
