I am trying to determine the father & mother for John H. Batey who was born in 1836 in Alabama. John was a Confederate War soldier who married the widow Mary Catherine Sturdivant Guice in 1864. They lived in Franklin Parish, Wisner, Louisiana. He is my father's great-grandfather. I have found that his father was from Ireland/mother from North Carolina. John had at least one brother, Hugh White Batey, born 1833 also in Alabama, who lived in Florida and later moved to Franklin Parish, Wisner, LA. John had two sons, William Tilling Batey, Sr. (1868-1930)(my direct lineage) and Newton Batey (1866-1936).
