Because Okaloosa shares county lines with Walton, some may be interested in the following:
________________________________________________________

The committee for the Heritage Book of Walton County is still accepting typewritten family and topical stories. (1,000 FREE words for a pioneer family in the county before 1890, and 500 FREE words for others. Include photograph.) Churches, clubs, organizations, schools, etc. qualify for approximately 250 words. Please don't forget the photo.

WHO qualifies? YOU. Families who presently live in the county or who have ancestors with roots in Walton County. NO story is rejected, as long as it is not slanderous or hurtful.

WHAT could you write? Vital statistics: full name, date, place, time of birth and marriage; names of grand- and great-grandparents if known; siblings, occupation; family traditions, games, hobbies/pasttimes. WHY did they choose this area? WHERE did they come from? HOW did they travel?

THE MOST YOU COULD WASTE? A sheet of paper and some time.

WHAT WILL YOU GAIN? The gift of a loving story for your descendants to discover long after you are gone.

BOOK REVIEW from the Montgomery Advertiser 7/7/02 regarding the Montgomery County Heritage Book

"Some sincerely moving little remembrances of people who would never appear in any book about pioneers or founders of anything except maybe of their own little piece of the community that most of us inhabit. Rich, poor, black, white, distinguished and not so, you'll find it all in this wonderfully entertaining book. And no doubt, you'll find lots of people you know, or knew, in it."

FINAL, non-negotiable deadline: 31 MAR 2004
