Benjamin Franklin Holmes-son of John Holmes and Cecily Arminda Carpenter (she had been married prior, so this is not her maiden name) MARRIED Anna Laura Grimes, daughter of John and Martha (Mills) Grimes in May, 1867. They were married in the Holley area of Santa Rosa County, Florida.
William Thomas, Ben's brother, married Ella Grimes who was the daughter of Wiley Grimes and Mary Bishop. Wiley Grimes was the brother of John Grimes. Thus, Anna and Ella were 1st cousins, and Ben and Bill were brothers.
If you are involved in research of the Grimes/Holmes families, you will probably know that these two families and the secondary families, such as Crain, Bishop, Carr, Faulk, Broxson, and Alford, did a lot of intermarriages between cousins, brothers, sisters etc....
I would love to exchange information on any of these families. All seem to be originally from NC/SC/GA/AL.
