According to Fl Death Index, he did die in Orange County in 1943. You can get copy of death certificate from Office of Vital Statistics, 1217 Pearl St., Jacksonville, Fl 32202 for $5.00 and it should tell you the funeral home that handled service and much more immportant information.
I also find him on 1920 and 1930 census reports. Do you have this information?
