Notations from Elmwood cemetery, Charlotte, NC, indicate that a daughter of Claudia A. Field (1869-1938, Mrs. John Frank Allen) was Mrs. Guy H. May, Sutton Place South, Winter Park, Florida. By process of elimination, I know that Mrs. May was either Claudia's daughter Mary Allen (born Oct. 1894) or her daughter Catherine A. Allen (born April 1899).

In the social security death index, I found a Mary May, born 1 Oct. 1894, and died in March, 1982, in Winter Park, Orange Co., Fla. In the Florida death index, it lists a Mary Lindsay May, born 1 Oct. 1895, and died 20 March 1982. The middle name Lindsay is particularly intriguing, since Claudia Field's grandmother's maiden name was Lindsay. Was Claudia Field's daughter named Mary Lindsay Allen?

I am hoping to compare notes with some of Mrs. May's descendants. Claudia Field was the daughter of Robert Henry Field (1840-1911) and Amanda Roxanna Bisanar (1847-1925), of Charlotte, NC. Their daughter Claudia married John Frank Allen (1857-1951) around 1890, and they lived in Hickory, Catawba Co., NC, and had four children: Louise Allen (1893-1955), Mary Allen (Oct.1894), Frank Field Allen (Oct. 1896) and Catherine A. Allen (Apr.1899).

Robert Henry Field was the son of Elswick Sherwood Field (1808-1867) and Guilianna L. Lindsay (1807-1885), my 3rd great grandparents. I am descended from their son, John Andrew Field (1848-1883), and am trying to make a complete record of my Field family lineage from the 1720s to the present day.

Best Regards,
