In the 1880 census, the only Taunton family in Washington Co. was:
Taunton, Newsom 61 Georgia
Nancy (W) 56 Georgia
Simeon (S) 27 Alabama
George (S) 22 Alabama
In 1900, the only Taunton/Tanton family in the county was:
Tanton, Rebecca 33 May 1867 Georgia
John (S) 16 Aug 1883 Florida
Henry (S) 14 Apr 1886 Florida
Phoebe (D) 12 Jun 1888 Florida
Susy (D) 9 Dec 1890 Florida
George (S) 5 May 1895 Florida
Simeon (S) 1 Apr 1899 Florida
I know for a fact that the Newsom and Nancy Taunton listed in 1880 died before 1900. The George Taunton listed in 1880 married Sadie Snell and moved to Walton Co. (1900 and 1910) then Liberty Co. (1920), FL.
That leaves Simeon Taunton unaccounted for from the 1880 census. Rebecca Taunton of the 1900 census was widowed, and I'm trying to find evidence that she was the widow of Simeon, as I've been able to find no trace of him after his 1880 census entry.
Does anyone recognize the family of Rebecca Taunton and know who her Taunton husband was, and what her maiden name was? I'd love to hear from anyone who recognizes any of these Taunton/Tanton individuals.
