My great granfather, John Calvin Gainey/Ganey, was born in NC in 1818 and came through Georgia, stoping for a few years at various places, He stayed several years in Thomas - Grady Counties area and then moved down to Washington Co., Fl about 1882 or 3. He died in 1888 and is buried in west Jackson County. John had one son (John, Jr.) that I have not found any descendants for. It sure would be nice if your wife fits in.
I have not tried to trace other Gainey/Ganey famlies but I feel that a DNA project might tie many of us together.
