Adopted members of Morris and Amanda Gee Flake Family

My Mother passed away recently. She was born Helen Maria Flake on April 19, 1915 to Morris Flake and his wife Amanda Gee Flake of the Grand Rapids, Mi. area. We know of one sister, Bea who was older and who we visited with many times while we were growing up. We believe there were other children born to this couple. We also believe this family was abandoned for some reason. All I have been able to find in records is that this couple had one child who was born in 1920. That is the same year that my mother was adopted to another couple in Michigan. She had been in an orphanage at least two years at that time. I would like to know if anyone else is looking for members of this family and would correspond with them through this forum. Of particular interest is the history of this family and medical history. As you can see, my mother lived a full life, 1915 to 2002. She was a happy person and knew of her adoption from the very first. She tried at different times to find other siblings but was always prevented from doing so by court order. Why?
If this request doesn't fit within this forum, I'm sorry. We would just like to know the history of this very remarkable lady.
