The writer probably got carried away and wrote Bruce after Adam Flake's name. Adam Flake's daughter Catherine was born in Pennsylvania on Sept 12,1785 and would most likely have came to Indiana with her parents, sister, and two brothers in January 1796. It is believed the family lived in Cincinnati for about a year before coming to Indiana. I find nothing in the book about Catherine coming from Kentucky but the raft/boat they traveled in was known as a "Kentucky Boat" and commonly used by pioneers in that era.
