Here's another reckless shot in the dark. Flake could be an Anglicized version of a French (Huguenot) surname. Metthias Marriott Sr. was supposedly born in France (Alsace). And the name Cecilia (Walker) looks rather French to me. There was a Huguenot settlement near Jamestown.
