It was just a long shot. I know "my" Charity wouldn't have had the last name of Flake. I was tracing mtDNA matches. Charity would've had my U5 haplotype. And assuming that Samuel Flake is descended from Margaret Marriott, he would've had the same. Of course he could not pass that on to offspring. Charity was more likely to have been born in Richmond County than the current Anson County. She may even have come there with her parents from elsewhere in North Carolina or Virginia. My maternal line, according to my grandmother decades ago, goes back to Jamestown.
