I wish I could give you new information on David's ancestry -- we'll get there eventually, I'm sure.

I'm curious if David's son John Edward might have been the John E. Flandreau, engineer, who appears in the 1890 New York City Directory as residing at 502 West 34th.

The site at
lists Emma and her various children, though I suspect the information may have come from you. Anyway, he lists John as married to Tiney McLaughlin, if that's of any use at all.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for David as I'm searching...
