Thanks for the follow-up with the information on Thomas Macomb Flandrau. He and his family do appear in the online database previously mentioned. Do have a look when you have a chance...

I'll try to locate the New York Times obit for Thomas you mentioned. I have his brother Charles's obit, but he was considerably more famous, so perhaps I just missed Thomas in the index. I was completely unaware that Thomas had ever lived in New Rochelle. I know his father Thomas Hunt Flandrau, the lawyer, was born there, but I though that the son Thomas M. lived and died in Rome, NY.

I hadn't known that Thomas had a son named Daniel. He's no doubt one of the many Daniel A. Flandraus in the database. I'm certain that he is not the Daniel Alpheus Flandreau mentioned in this thread, however. Daniel Alpheus Flandreau Sr., was born in 1791, whereas Thomas was born in 1826.

Still lots to learn about... Do let me know when your family records become available. I'm sure we have a lot to share...
