I am mailing my DAR supplemental application today on William Flanigan. I'll let you know if it is accepted.

I found a Rev. War record of William Smith that went as a substitute for a William Flanagan and that William's sister, Polly Patterson (a widow) of Jackson Co., GA, knew of this service. Could it possibly be that this Polly is the Polly that William married?

An interesting point is Lucy Flanagan (their daughter) was the 2nd wife of Elijah Stephens. Elijah's first wife was a Patterson.

On page 317 of "Georgia's Roster of the Revolution" Polly Flanigan is listed as a Rev. War widow. I feel this is our Polly, wife of William. Interestingly, the person listed before her is Mary Ann Patterson, Rev War Widow. Could there be some connection. A few names below Polly is a Margarett Barnett, Rev. War Widow. I do know that the Stephens married the Barnetts--this could also be a connection.

This may seem like a lot of rambling on my part, but I can't help but believe it all ties together in some way.
