My great-great grandfather was a Heinrich Flaspöhler, b ca 1818, married to Margaret Vissman, b 1826. While family lore refers to Heinrich as being 'Dutch', the name appears to be strictly German. However, the US Census of 1920 indicates that they were both born in the Netherlands. I've heard that some records indicate that a family of that name was employed as estate stewards by a Netherlandish nobleman, so it could ALL be true:) They immigrated to Louisville, KY, probably in the late 1840's. Their children were Maria (b ca 1846), Fred (my g-grandfather, b 1849) and Henry (b ca 1852). I believe there are still Flaspöhlers in Louisville.
