My husbands great grandmother was Helen Fleckenstein, born in 1861 in Philadelphia,PA. Her father was Peter Fleckenstein, born about 1822 in Bavaria(according to the 1870 and 1880 Census of Philadelphia. Her mother was Elizabeth ? born about 1828 also in Bavaria. They immigrated about 1860-1861 to Phila. they had two older daughters- Emma born in 1853 in Bavaria and Anna born in 1857 in Bavaria. I can't find any record of them in the 1860 census, and since Helen was born in 1861, my guess is that they came over about 1860 or 61. I know nothing else about the German roots except Bavaria, from the US census. Would love to know more! Helen married Robert Taylor Todd in Phila, had at least 9 children, among them Margaret who was my husbands grandmother. Have more on Todds. Would love to know more about Fleckensteins! Can't seem to find them on the 1900 census!
