Hi Robert, That is very interesting about the Alverson name. I don't know of any at this time, but will look in records to see. I'm just back from an East Texas Historical Association's conference. On the way back here (Hico, in the North Texas Hill Country) I went through Woodville, where I spent many happy days with Emmett and Gladys at their country home "Twin Lakes." I annotated Rebel Private: Front and Rear, my great-grandfather's (and Emmett's father's) Confederate memoirs. I added an afterword about the rest of his life. Dutton published in 1995 and I have been on book tours off and on ever since. It is now being funded in CA. for a feature film. So, if we find a Fletcher-Alverson connection, at least you'll get to know more of the Fletcher family. I'll also look for relatives or friends of the Fletcher or Long family. Bill Fletcher (the grandson of the William you found) married Julianna (or Julia Ann or Julian) Long. Either of them could have chosen Emmett's second name. Good Luck, Vallie
