Joseph Fletcher private in Florida militia Seminole Indian Disturbances
In looking at military land patents in Missouri,
I have found where JOSEPH FLETCHER, a Private in Captain Knights Company Florida Militia Seminole (Indian) Disturbance received 120 acres described as the west half of the north east quarter and north west quarter of SE quarter of Section 11 in Township 60 Range 16, Missouri which on September 10, 1859 he sold to CHARLES EWING
(warrant # 44.591)
I am trying to find out first, where this land was located and second, if Joseph Fletcher lived near this land or if he sold this land from another location/state and if Charles Ewing lived on this land for any amount of time, or did he buy it from another location and move to it after purchase.
There is record of a "Captain Levi KNIGHT", possibly the "Captain Knight" mentioned whom Joseph Fletcher served under, that went from Clinch County,Georgia to Florida in the Seminole Disturbances' of 1838.With land warrants being issued to settle the western territory, Missouri land grants were being offered around the late 1850's.Does anyone have any information on this Joseph Fletcher whom served under Captain Knight in the Seminole Indian Disturbances of 1838?
Thanks for any help with this.
